CAMHS – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

CAMHS provides a free and confidential counselling service for children up to 18 years of age and their families. Services are provided by child, adolescent and family specialists including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, who are experienced in helping children with emotional, psychiatric, behavioural or social difficulties.
We offer a range of services depending on your needs. Services include personalised individual or family counselling appointments, groups for children or information workshops for parents/care-givers.

CanTeen – The Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer

CanTeen supports, develops and empowers teenagers living with cancer by providing a high quality Australia-wide peer support network of teenagers living with cancer and their teenage brothers and sisters, who share experiences, have fun, offer resources and promote understanding, well being and leadership.

Services provided:

  • Peer Support through activities, camps, educational workshops
  • Grief education courses for members eg. Annual good grief weekend
  • Telephone counseling

Childhood Cancer Association Inc

The Childhood Cancer Association is South Australia's key childhood cancer support organisation, dedicated to providing emotional, practical and financial support to children with cancer and their families. As part of this support they provide bereavement services to families who have experienced the death of a child from cancer. 

Services provided:

  • Individual and family counselling including face to face telephone and online counselling
  • Bereaved parent support group meetings
  • Library facilities for loss and grief e.g. books and brochures
  • Grief education classes
  • Grief and loss workshops
  • SIBE (Supper Important Brothers and Sisters program is run in the school holidays)
  • Bereaved Grandparent support groups
  • Bereaved Parens support group 
  • Anual bereaved family day for all member of the family 
  • Funeral assistance
  • Respite accomodation

Loss & Grief Camps ANGLICARESA

The Star Bear program is a partnership between Anglicare Loss and Grief Centre.

Star Bear is a grief support program for children aged 5-12. For teenagers up to 17 there is the Star Bound program for  teenagers who are grieving the death of a parent, sibling or significant person.

Children attend a weekend camp conducted by trained mentors/leaders. The programe aims to increase children’s understanding of death and the grieving process, as well as providing them with the opportunity to share their experiences with other children. both camps aee run by proffesionals and volunteairs in the area.
